York County is proud of the fact that our cost of living is relatively low, yet the quality of life is high. Housing is in ample supply and varied -- everything from two bedroom ranchers, to pleasant subdivision homes, to large colonials, to restored farmhouses, to mini-estates and farms. You will notice when you visit York that the homes and yards are well tended because people take pride in their property. One additional feature is the relatively low Real Estate tax structure.
There is an excellent school system consisting of both public and private schools as well as a Vocational Technical School. York College, an accredited four year institution, offers a Masters Program in Business Education. We also have a York Campus of Penn State offering the first two years of college instruction.
We have two hospitals, York Hospital and Memorial Hospital, both fully accredited.
There are numerous shopping centers, factory outlet stores, three farmers' markets and numerous farms and orchards where you can buy fruits and vegetables direct. We have an excellent library with branches throughout the county, a YMCA, YWCA, JCC and every imaginable club or activity. Best of all, they are all just minutes away. Because York is small, one is on a familiar basis with government officials who are very responsive to their constituency.
Finally, our central location makes big city entertainment accessible. Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York and Washington are all day trip possibilities.
These are some of the "everyday living" highlights of York as we see them. I'd like to show them to you. I look forward to meeting with you in the near future.
